What is MasterJoe.ORG?
The ultimate goal, behind this web site, is to become the all-purpose launching point, for all users of the World Wide Web. The freeware, available in the Downloads section, is meant to keep your PC updated, safe, secure, optimized, and running at maximum performance, while preserving both the hardware, and software, components of your PC, keeping costs down. The Links section is meant to bring the best of the World Wide Web together, in order for users to be able to find what they are looking for quickly, easily, and in the same place. The hope is that a user could make this web site their home page, and use it to navigate to whatever their desired destination might be, without having to worry about unorganized bookmarks, incorrect web addresses, or out-of-date programs running on their computer. I hope this goal will be realized, and will continue providing these services, in order to make users of the Internet more aware of security, while helping them to find solutions to their computer problems, programs to fit their needs, and web sites to fit their interests. Although this web site and materials within are free, you can show your support by donating, via the Donate page, or purchase MasterJoe.ORG merchandise at our online Store.

January 17, 2010 - First of The New Year
Well, it has been an interesting month, since my last update. Google and China are at odds, over a security breach, mostly being focussed on the GMail accounts of human rights activists in China being comprimised. There has been discussion that Google's threat to pull out of China raises the bar of what kinds of moral standards businesses should have. This claim is ridiculous. Google didn't do anything to support these individuals, until they were hacked. This isn't about human rights. It's about Google being hacked, and trying to save face, and take the focus off of teh fact that they dropped the ball on security, and make this about human rights. Speaking of Google dropping the ball, there are a lot of Nexus One customers, who are now learning about the poor customer service of Google, and who are having a lot of difficulties with the phone. Apple can blame AT&T for some of the issues being mentioned with the iPhone, as it is AT&T's network which is the cause of many. Google, on the other hand, cannot blame T-Mobile for this one. Another issue that seems to come up with each new phone being released is that everyone compares it to the iPhone. There are two issues with this. First, the iPhone has had YEARS to work the kinks out, and to build a somewhat stable operating system, and to build a very large market in the AppStore. The Nexus One is about, what, a month old? The Droid is two or three months old? In addition, since when is the iPhone the standard for what a smartphone should be? The iPhone certainly wins in vanity, as many people buy it simply because it's an iPhone, and not because it's a good phone, or the best phone. Don't get me wrong. The iPhone IS a great smartphone. Would I say that it should be the standard by which other smartphones are measured? No. However, I will say that I don't know that I do have a bar for which smartphones should be measured, and maybe they shouldn't be. Judge a smartphone by hwo good it is, period, and not how good it is compared to another one, or by the brand, or the network it is on. I am a Verizon Wireless customer, and have no intentions of switching, as it is difficult to get reception where I live, and I know that verizon Wireless does. Would I take a chance on switching to T-Mobile, to use the Nexus One, especially when the early termination fees are a combined $550, between T-Mobile's $250 and Google's $300? Absolutely not. If I had one complaint about Verizon, it would be that they don't have a very great phone lineup, in either smartphones, and even less so in regular cell phones. I'm hoping that windows Mobile 7, expected to be announced and shown off at the mobile show in February, will have better accessibility features, and will allow me to choose the font color, size, and background color for all menus. If it does, I will likely upgrade to a Windows Mobile 7 device, when a decent one does come on the market. Android, at least on the Droid, has ZERO stars from me on the accessibility front. The iPhone does as well. I realize that there are not a ton of legally blind people who really take a huge interest in this, as many use the voice response. But, there are a LOT of customers out there, blind and not, who would love the ability to completely customize the look and color of their smartphone. Would anyone offer that? Anyway, a lot to digest, and a big blob of text. So, that's it for thsi one. I've had one week of grad school courses, and it went pretty well. I can't say anything about how I am doing, until I have a few graded assignments done. I'll keep you posted, for all who are interested.
